Module Learning Objectives:
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
1. Define chronic kidney failure, chronic kidney disease, and uremia.
2. Differentiate chronic kidney disease from acute kidney disease.
3. Determine clinical signs, diagnosis, IRIS staging, and IRIS substaging of chronic kidney disease.
4. Determine management and prognosis of chronic kidney disease.
5. Monitor patients with chronic kidney disease.
Welcome! This case series will guide you through diagnosis and management of feline and canine kidney diseases. Each case will take you through the patient history, physical examination, and diagnostic test results. Patient history, physical exam findings, and lab results will automatically save to your CLIPBOARD as you progress in the case, so that you can reference it later. Note, you cannot go backwards within the case to review information that was presented earlier.
Optimal mobile configurations include using either the Moodle App or the default browser for Android or Safari on the iPad. For desktops and laptops each platforms default browser as well as Chrome and Firefox should provide a good experience.
For each multiple choice question, you will receive correct, partial correct, or incorrect feedback. The passing score for each case is 70%.
Cases marked with an asterisk may be attempted more than once and myst be completed with a passing score before any additional cases can be seen.
You will begin with the cases in the BRONZE exam room. After you have successfully completed the cases in the bronze exam room, you will be awarded a badge. You will then begin the cases in the SILVER exam room. Successful completion of the cases in the bronze and silver exam rooms is REQUIRED.
Cases in the GOLD and PLATINUM exam rooms will be made available after successful completion of the bronze and silver exam rooms. The cases in the gold and platinum exam rooms are optional, and will cover more advanced renal cases. Challenge yourself to see if you can diagnose and manage patients in the GOLD and PLATINUM exam rooms!
